Run/Walk/Eat/Volunteer Club
This club began with a different mission than most running clubs, and has maintained that focus over the years.
You see, in addition to running, we believe that we should give back to the community that we live in by pursuing opportunities to volunteer our time to make our community a better place to live.
We meet on Saturday mornings at various
restaurants throughout the Baltimore Metropolitan area. We start at 9:00
AM for a one-hour run or walk. Just an hour. Then at 10:00 AM we all
re-congregate for breakfast/brunch at the chosen eatery. Members who are
part of our marathon training program often choose to start their runs earlier
in order to be back in time for breakfast. (Please
contact Jacquie jking3@umbc.edu or Crista
cgilbert@stattorney.org for
complete details of our marathon training program.)
Periodically we get together as a groups and donate a day to a worthy cause.
We have built playgrounds, cleaned up neighborhoods, delivered gifts to
disadvantaged children, participated in emergency disaster preparedness drills
as "victims", and set up water stops at various races.
Please feel free to join our club for running/walking, eating, and
volunteering...oh, and did I mention other social activities? We have them
too! To join our informational mailing list, send an email to
Mark Brody.
