The Course
NEW COURSE FOR 2010! We would like to say we are growing and evolving,
but the fact of the matter is the the Recession of 2009 claimed the America's
Oldest Irish Pub (Patrick's of Pratt Street) as well as Lucy's. We have
replaced them with The Rowhouse and will have one or two others by runday.
(Posted Feb 10)
You pick the order in which you want to run the course. There
is some strategic thinking involved as explained below.
The run starts in front of Slainte at 1700 Thames
Street. To accomplish the shortest distance, you may want to head out to James Joyce first, then decided
whether to run north to Mick O'Shea's, then west to Lucy's, then over to Patrick's, then back to TirNaNog before
heading to the finish. Or you may chose to head west first to Patrick's,
and then pick up your validations on your return trip.
Strategy: Well, since Slainte and James Joyce are the closest, it
stands to reason that there may be lines to get your number checked.
So maybe you will want to have an alternative plan to visit the further
locations first, since the runners should be spread out by then, and get
The Joyce and Slainte on your way back to the post-run party.
The post-run party is in front of Slainte at 1700 Thames Street. So
this could be your first stop or your last stop!
Q: What happens if I decided that enough is enough and it is time
to go to the party before I go to all the establishments?
A: Tsk, tsk, tsk, you will forfeit your eligibility to win the race.
However,
all is not lost. You may still enjoy the post-run party, and you may still
redeem your coupons for food or drink for the next month. And you will
still be eligible for random prizes.
Estimated shortest course is the 1 1/2 mile round trip to The Joyce and
back
to Slainte. The longest course, well, we won't be out there looking for
you
if you decided to include some non-sponsoring establishments in your journey,
such as J. Patrick's in Locust Point, Ryan's Daughter in Belvedere Square, or
Au Poitin Still in Timonium...you will be gone all day!
