DULANEY VALLEY RD AND SEMINARY AVE. DRIVING DIRECTIONS: Beltway to Dulaney Valley Rd North. Follow Dulaney Valley Rd for a little over ½ mile to the light at Seminary Ave at bottom of hill. Turn left and park on side of road. TRAIL DESCRIPTION: Cross Dulaney Valley Rd and follow Seminary Ave 100 yards to trail entrance on left. This is a very extensive but not well-marked trail system. An easy navigation run is to follow main fire trail ( the trail that is wide enough for a truck) and ignore all side trails. This main trail will cross a stream in about 1 mile and then meander along with gently rolling uphills and downhills. Ignore all side trails and in about 4 miles you will hit Providence Rd just next to Loch Raven Rd. Crossing Providence leads you into the Cromwell Valley Park trail system as described in another flier. Some areas of the trail are rockier than others so be careful. Once you get a feel for the area on the main trail, you can begin to explore the side trails. As you are heading out on the run, the side trails are on your right. Going left will go nowhere until the last part of the trail where some left turns do nice loops back to the main trail. Most of the trails on the right loop down to the reservoir and loop back up to the main trail. Many offer scenic views of the reservoir. The side trails are single track and windy but the footing is better. There are so many side trails that mapping them is impossible. The best way to learn them is to go back and explore. That's all I did when learning the trail system. You can normally find solitude in these trails in the early morning but mountain bikers tend to descend upon the area later in the day. THUMBS UP: Great trails. Many different options with ability to do long trail runs without repeating loops. Great views of the reservoir. THUMBS DOWN: There exists the possibility for temporarily misplacing yourself if you do not pay attention.
