Training Programs: A marathon training program targeting the Baltimore Marathon and featuring a number of prominent area runners is being developed and will be posted here. The rumored course: The course has been measured and USATF Certified in early March, 2001. Start from PSINet Stadium, east on Pratt, south on President, continuing east on Fleet Street to Boston Street. (The first few miles are mostly flat here) North on Linwood to Patterson Park. From Patterson Park, north to Edison Highway Avenue, northwest to Harford Road, northeast to Walther Boulevard, to Northern Parkway. (The course begins its upward climb to Butcher's Hill, and continues to gain elevation in a series of rolling hills to Northern Parkway. High Point is about 400 feet ASL near Northern Parkway and Charles Street) West on Northern Parkway to Roland Avenue. (This stretch also contains rolling hills.) South on Roland to University Parkway. (There are still a lot of gently rolling hills, but the course begins to lose elevation.) South on San Martin Drive, west on Wyman Park Drive through Druid Hill Park to Gwynns Falls Parkway. South on Auchentolly Terrace to east on Druid Park Lake Drive to 28th Street (Except for a slight incline leading into Druid Hill and the 28th Street Bridge area, most of this section is flat.) Then south on Huntingdon to Howard Street to Martin Luther King Boulevard to Green Street to finish at PSI Net Stadium. (This will be a downhill drop for a couple of miles culminating in a flat finish.) More details as news develops. E Mail Race Director Dave Cooley |
